How to Mail Cards in Bulk
A large card mailing is easiest when you solve the mailpiece first and scale the process second. Build one final sample, confirm its postage, and only then prepare the full batch.
Test One Complete Card
Include every insert, seal the envelope, and check weight, dimensions, thickness, flexibility, and address placement. Greeting cards with photos, ribbons, clasps, wax seals, or square envelopes can move outside the ordinary machinable-letter price.
Choose the Mailing Method
| Approach | Best fit | Planning need |
|---|---|---|
| Postage stamps | Personal-looking cards and manageable quantities | Enough correct-value stamps plus extras for errors |
| Meter or online indicia | Repeat business workflows | Equipment or approved account process |
| Commercial mailing | Eligible, standardized high-volume campaigns | Preparation, sorting, documentation, permits |
Batch Workflow
- Clean and deduplicate the address list.
- Print a small test group and proof every field.
- Count recipients, then add a modest replacement allowance.
- Work in numbered batches and reconcile completed pieces.
- Keep returned-mail notes for the next campaign.
Buying 100 stamps is not automatically the same as qualifying for a commercial bulk-mail price.
After testing one complete card and calculating the batch quantity, compare current stamp packages with the mailing schedule and budget.
Sources and Scope
Test one complete sample and confirm whether retail postage or a commercial program fits the actual batch.
