The official issue date, rather than the press-release date, determines whether an issue belongs in April. Product pages may continue selling an older issue in a later year, so retail availability must not be treated as a release date.
How the Annual List Is Checked
- Start with the annual USPS stamp-program announcement.
- Confirm the first-day date and city in the individual Stamp Announcement or ceremony notice.
- Record later schedule changes separately.
- Keep the postage category and sales format distinct.
- Review the table after April ends and whenever an official correction is issued.
What “Issued in April” Means
An issue belongs here when its official first day falls from April 1 through April 30. A stamp announced in April for a May release does not belong in the April table. Likewise, a design sold by a retailer in April may have been issued months or years earlier.
The April issue record is historical and date-specific; current purchasing choices appear separately in the current stamp listings.
Sources and Scope
The issue date is distinct from an announcement date. Individual Stamp Announcements control the exact issue facts.
