Three Terms That Are Easy to Confuse

TermMeaningWhat to check
PostcardThe physical card you are mailing.Size, thickness, destination, and preparation.
Postcard stampA category stamp for the domestic postcard price. The service wording printed on the stamp.
Stamped cardA postal card with postage already printed on it.Whether the printed postage still covers the mailing.

Current Domestic Postcard Check

As of July 12, 2026, the retail domestic postcard price is $0.65. A qualifying postcard is rectangular and no larger than 6 inches long by 4.25 inches high, with a maximum thickness of 0.016 inch. A larger, square, unusually thick, or rigid card may be charged as a letter or another mailpiece.

  1. Check whether postage is already printed on the card.
  2. Measure the card rather than relying on the product name.
  3. Confirm the destination is domestic.
  4. Use the correct current category value on the mailing date.

Common Mistakes

A decorative postcard is not automatically eligible for the postcard rate. Do not add a second stamp to a stamped card without checking the printed postage, and do not use a domestic Postcard stamp as though it were Global Forever postage.
