Three Ounce Stamps

A Three Ounce category stamp is intended for a qualifying domestic letter over two ounces and up to three ounces. Shape, rigidity, dimensions, and extra services can still change the required postage.

Current Three-Ounce Letter Value

At retail rates effective July 12, 2026, a qualifying domestic stamped letter costs $1.40 at three ounces. That equals the $0.82 one-ounce price plus two additional-ounce amounts of $0.29.

When It Works

The mailpiece must still qualify as a letter: rectangular, within letter dimensions, no more than 0.25 inch thick, and no more than 3.5 ounces. A rigid, square, uneven, overly thick, or oversized piece may require a surcharge or a different category.

Category Stamp or Combination?

A current Three Ounce stamp can simplify postage for the matching category. You can also combine valid stamps whose total value covers the required amount. Do not infer current value from an old design or from the artwork alone; read the printed service wording and check the mailing date.
